Be A Voter!

Voter Registration:

Mail-In Voting: Getting Your Mail-In Ballot:

  • In North Carolina you must apply for a Mail-In Ballot. (Other states are making it much
easier by sending mail-in ballots automatically to everyone. This is one law I will sponsor
    as your next state senator!)
  • Deadline to apply is October 27, 2020.
  • Before early September you must download or print the application from this site:
    https://s3.amazonaws.com/dl.ncsbe.gov/Forms/NCAbsenteeBallotRequestForm.pdf
  • Complete the application and return it to your county Board of Elections by mail, email
or fax. We’ve listed to correct addresses, emails and fax numbers below.
  • By September 1 you’ll be able to apply for a Mail-In Ballot online. (But you might not want to wait!)
  • After you’ve submitted your application, the Boards of Elections will start sending out Mail-In Ballots early September.

Mail-In Voting: Completing and Submitting Your Mail-In Ballot:

  • You have to complete your Mail-In Ballot YOURSELF.
  • You have to have 1 witness.
  • You DON’T need to include any ID with your Mail-In Ballot.
  • Mail your Mail-In Ballot anytime September 4, 2020 – November 3, 2020 5:00 pm. Make sure it’s postmarked in that date range! Don’t wait until the last minute!
  • OR you can drop off your Mail-In Ballot September 4, 2020 – November 3, 2020 5:00
pm at your county Board of Elections office.
  • You can also drop off your Mail-In Ballot at an early voting site October 17-31.
  • Don’t give it to a family member or friend to drop it off; YOU HAVE TO DELIVER YOUR MAIL-IN BALLOT YOURSELF.
  • You have to do all this yourself to prevent fraud, even though it might be inconvenient.

Early In-Person Voting:

  • This is my favorite way to vote. Easy. No lines. Get It Done.
  • During early voting – October 15-31 in North Carolina — you can register to vote AND vote at the same time.
  • You can also go to any polling place in your county.
  • Find all the polling locations by searching or calling your county Board of Elections.
  • If there’s a mess-up and you’re told you’re not on the list or you’re in the wrong location,
ask for a provisional ballot. Here’s info on your rights as a voter!
